Danielle Freeman is a neonatal paediatrician who is passionate about caring for babies and their families in the newborn period. Dani is particularly interested in feeding and settling issues, premature babies and babies with medical problems who require ongoing follow up. She is also available to meet with parents antenatally if a problem is identified during the pregnancy.
Dani graduated with honours from the University of Melbourne and completed her internship at St Vincent’s Hospital before embarking on paediatric training at the Royal Children’s Hospital. During this time, Dani developed an interest in the care of the newborn and completed her subspecialty training in neonatal and perinatal medicine at the Mercy Hospital for Women.
In addition to her broad experience in neonatal intensive care, Dani has worked with the Newborn Emergency Transport Service, stabilising and transporting sick babies from all over Victoria. Dani completed a fellowship in neonatology at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto before returning to Melbourne to commence private practice. Her interests include antenatal counselling, resuscitation, ethics and patient safety. She has a Graduate Diploma in Health and Medical Law and is fascinated by the intersection of medicine and the law.
